On May 3rd, 2006, I launched the site Vampire: The Rebirth, using the VampMan project I made specifically for the site. It was an online version of the Vampire: the Requiem roleplaying game that I ran on IRC. Everything character related -- adding and approving characters, editing descriptions, submitting XP requests -- was handled through the website, while all actual gameplay happened over irc.
The game included friends and acquaintances, as well as new people I met while recruiting for the game. It was an interesting, albeit short-lived experience, and I consider it a high point of my roleplaying and Storytelling experiences. By August 2006, the game was dwindling, and on September 20th, 2006, the game officially closed.
Tonight, the details of the setting and our experiences are hazy, I've lost touch with most of the players, and VampiretheRebirth.org is a landing page trying to shill Vampire stuff.
I'm not saying that I regret it's over, or that I wish things had gone
differently. It was a culmination of months of work, an interesting
experiment in Vampire roleplaying, an entertaining way to pass the
summer, and a great way to learn PHP and MySQL. This is just a memoriam for a project that died too soon. We were here once.
This isn't the whole website as it was -- these are merely some snapshots of the site. Links inside the pages do not work, and the forms do not work either. I dare not put up the original site, as it ran an ancient version of PHPNuke. If you would like to see the site in entirety for some reason, feel free to contact me. Here are some example pages.
- This, obviously, is the main page. The theme is DeepRed, created by Lippylion. The logo at the top left was created specifically for me, by Christina Eater.
- This is another theme for the site. The theme is Sunset, which comes (or at least came) with PHPNuke as a stock theme. The top left corner is another logo, again created specifically for me by Christina Eater. This theme was just a joke between her and me.
- This is the form for creating a new character. Pretty self explanatory.
- This is the character sheet for William Longville, my first character for the game.
- This is the page of Kindred characters that were in the game. This used a php module called Guiki, which I added features to for our purposes (specifically including and recursively including pages).
- This is a profile for one of the characters that was in the game.
- This is what the admin side looked like. I had the ability to approve and edit characters, preview people's saved but unsubmitted characters (sneaky sneaky!), and review and approve XP requests and expenditures.
- This is on the admin side, editing Louise (Christina's character).
And that's it. I'm Joe Terranova, and my main website is JoeTerranova.net. If you have questions or comments, feel free to contact me at joeterranova@gmail.com.

As some of you may already know, Alik and I have finally decided that the game's now in a slump we won't be able to come back from, so we are closing the site. This shouldn't really affect any old players (because there aren't any left), but for new players, I'd suggest trying out Original-Sin, as they're open for business and should be for some time. If you like this site's system and want to try it for yourself, the full source is available at http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/vampman
I can be contacted at joeterranova@gmail.com if you need me for whatever reason.

We're back from our vacations. If you want to play, submit a character and go into #help or #ooc on irc. Preferably for more than 2 minutes.
The STs are usually around in the early afternoon, and after about 10pm. All times eastern.

As some of you already know, Alik and I (the 2 STs) will unfortunately be gone all this week to have a romantic tryst in the Carribean. I will be returning on the 21st, Alik possibly earlier. Either way, while people will still be playing, character approvals and many story lines will be on hold. We hope you will join us on our return, as starting the 21st, Vampire the Rebirth rides again! Hopefully. Sorta. kthxbye

The city stood for many ages, And became the center of a mighty Empire. Caine grew close to those not like him. The children of Seth knew him And he, in turn, knew them.
But the world grew dark with sin. Caine's children wandered here and there, indulging their dark ways...
... Caine read the signs in the darkening sky, but said nothing.
Then came the great Deluge, a great flood that washed over the world. The City was destroyed, the children of Seth with it.
Again, Caine fell into great sorrow and went into solitude And he left us, his Progeny, to our own ends...
... A great war was waged, the Elders against their Children, just as Uriel had said, And the Children slew their parents.
They rose up Used fire and wood Swords and claws To destroy those who had created them.
